The Annual Meeting of the New Champions –“from Davos to Dalian” was held at Dalian. Dai Xianglong, mayor of Tianjin, led the Tianjin delegation to attend this meeting. The delegation would make great efforts to popularize the national strategies on the development of Binhai New Area, expand the international exchanges and pursue the cooperation opportunities based on the global economic forum. Tianjin, the host of the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2008, invited all political and economic elites. At Dalian, the delegation would learn and absorb the experience to create optimum conditions for holding the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2008. Gou Lijun, standing member of the Tianjin CPC Committee and director of the Administrative Committee of the Binhai New Area, He Longlin, secretary-general of the Tianjin Municipal Government, and other heads of relevant departments and enterprises participated in the meeting.

After reaching Dalian, the Tianjin Delegation began to hard work. Dai Xianglong attended the opening ceremony of this meeting and seriously listened to Premier Wen Jiabao’s address on the opening ceremony. Dai also took part in the discussion on “high-efficiency city- building new outstanding cities” and consulted the well-known entrepreneurs and experts advices on the implementation of national development strategies, the high-level construction and management of cities, the acceleration of construction of ecological cities and the scientific, harmonious and prior development.

Dai Xianglong met Goh Chok Tong, senior minister of Singapore, at Shangri-La Hotel of Dalian and both parties deeply exchanged their views on the cooperation in ecological construction and service sectors. Otherwise, Dai also met with other famous entrepreneurs during the meeting. All entrepreneurs extended their intents to cooperate with Tianjin in numerous fields.

Gou Lijun attended the forum of “China’s future development center” and gave a speech. Tianjin’s entrepreneurs participated in different specialized forums individually.

This meeting gathered many global political and economic elites. The theme of this meeting is the “balance of different forces in changes”. Some important issues, such as global commercial environments in change, China’s economic development and globalization of enterprises, would be discussed at the meeting.
