Participants of the Summer Davos Forum were encouraged to buy their own carbon emission in the trip to Tianjin, as an effort to cut down the emission of carbon, and protect the environment. The money will be used to plant trees or for other programs on cutting carbon emission.

Its is said that during the Winter Davos Forum which was held in Switzerland in January, the host provided free vehicles with low carbon emission to the participants and advocated the participants to pay for their carbon emissions in order to offset carbon emission's impact to the atmosphere caused by the forum.

There were 1,500 guests from 90 countries around the world participating in the 2008 Summer Davos Forum in Tianjin, among which 80 per cent were from oversea countries.
