20 Handicraft Works Made by Tianjin Citizens Being Chosen as Gift to Davos Forum

Since being initiated on May 21, the “Jinjiu Cup Art Design Contest in Celebration of Summer Davos”, an activity jointly held by the preparatory office of Tianjin Summer Davos Forum and Jinwanbao Group, has already received about 100 artifacts of 20 categories. Recently, a total of 20 handicraft works of Grand Prize, the 1st Prize, the 2nd Prize, the 3rd Prize and Honorable Prize were selected through the comprehensive evaluation and appraisal of the experts coming from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts and Nankai University.

In the afternoon of July 31, the journalist patronized the preparatory office of Davos Forum found all the artifacts collected were displayed in an office. These colorful artifacts of diversified forms can be classified into about 20 categories, such as calligraphy and painting, miniature landscape, wooden car model, jade sculpture, music instrument, painted sculpture, bottle cap art, gourd pyrography, fabric collage, bamboo slips and dough figurine.

Of the 20 award winning artifacts, the Grand Prize is awarded to a set of Chinese traditional wooden miniature car models; two 1st Prizes to a custom-made metal car model and a Fan-made gourd vase; three 2nd Prizes to a series of gourd pyrography, a feather patchwork and a mini Davos painted eggs; and four 3rd Prizes to a miniature landscape, a mesh flower named “Sanyukaitai”, a colored sculpture of Kuan Kung, and a fabric collage.

And the Honorable Prizes are awarded to a cartoon wall picture named MADE IN TIANJIN, a sand painting of Tianjin panorama, a series of crystal painting of 12 Chinese Zodiac, a carved porcelain painting, a fan painting, a cross-stitched embroidery, a set of conch face painting, a bead yarn embroidery, a shell ship named “Wishing You Every Success” and an artificial rockwork.

In the process of discussion and election, the experts spoke highly of these handicraft works. The experts were so convinced by the exquisite craftsmanship and innovative art concepts of the craftsman in Tianjin that it became a headache to choose the award winners. After careful considerations, the experts decided to grant the award to the fine artifacts closely connected with the theme of Davos Forum and displaying the indigenous features of Tianjin at the same time.

According to these experts, these artifacts with high artistic standards are closely related to the theme of Tianjin Davos Forum, and help demonstrate the image of a new Tianjin in its dynamic development, thus expressing Tianjin people’s eager expectation towards Summer Davos Forum to be held in Tianjin.
