The vivid paper cuts of 12 Chinese Zodiac, the exaggeratedly bright colored painting Tianjin Kids, a folding fan with the script of Dumu’s poem Shanxing on it, all the above handicraft works represent the enthusiasm and talents. Today, these artifacts will be sent to the organizing committee of Summer Davos Forum, which might be presented to the guests of different countries attending Tianjin Summer Davos Forum as state gifts.

innovative ideas becoming state gifts

One of the teachers in charge of Tianjin Youth Center told the reporter, “Some children put forward to present the handicraft works they make to Tianjin Summer Davos Forum as gifts when the municipal officials came to the youth center to celebrate Children’s Day with kids. Such an idea promptly won support. In the following two months, the kids in the youth center began to work on the artifacts. After repeated revision and recreation, over 350 handicraft works were collected by the teacher. These works include paper cuts, kids’ painting, calligraphy, seal carving, Chinese painting and cartoons, whose subjects cover Tianjin’s features, folk customs, children’s life or environmental protection. The age of the authors of these works range from 4 or 5 years old to 12 years old. About 120 handicrafts were submitted to the organizing committee of Summer Davos Forum after the primary selection.”

to present cartoons to Schwab

Yesterday, the reporter notices a familiar image – Zhao Tianjiao, a pretty and talented Tianjin girl. This time she planned to present a cartoon painting of Klaus Schwab, the founder and executive chairman of World Economic Forum as a gift.

The 12 year old little girl really has rich experiences. At the beginning of this year, Zhao Tianjiao was inspired to write to Yukio Hatoyama, former Japanese Prime Minister renew their friendship although they had met only once. Out of her expectation, only one month later, Prime Minister Yokio wrote back and specially appointed an official of Japanese embassy to send the answer letter to the girl’s home. In October, 2009, she took a photo with Premier Wen Jiabao in Great Hall of the People during the “China-Japan-Korea Youth Environmental Protection Exhibition” in Beijing.

In the cartoon picture painted by Zhao Tianjiao, Mr. Klaus Schwab stood on the earth holding a baton in his hand, with five-line staff as background which is crowded with varieties of currency signs. “This picture demonstrates the influence of Grandpa Schwab, who can alter the rhythm of the world finance as long as he waved the baton in his hand.” Zhao Tianjiao hopes that Grandpa Schwab will appreciate this picture.
