In order to welcome the Summer Davos Forum that is to be held in Tianjin with a brand-new look, and display the new image of Tianjin taxi industry as the window of this city, a general inspection was jointly organized by Tianjin Municipal Passenger Management Office and Tianjin Disease Prevention and Control Center to inspect the implementation of the activity “No Smoking within Taxi” . The campaign aims to purify the air within the taxi, and examine the drivers’ clothing, white seat covers and sanitary conditions within the taxi, so as to create a satisfying taxi travelling environment for the guests from home and abroad.

In the morning of Aug. 5, twelve inspection spots were established on Times Olympic City, Binxi Road, Jintang Road and Guizhou Road, inspecting a total of 1,200 taxies and rectifying on the spot 34 taxies without the logo “no smoking” posted according to relevant requirements.

Tianjin Municipal Passenger Management Office reiterates that both the taxi drivers and passengers are prohibited to smoke within taxies. As for those drivers who violate relevant rules to smoke within taxies, Tianjin Municipal Passenger Management Office would exert punishment and education according to law, the passengers could also refuse to pay the fares.

Tianjin Municipal Passenger Management Office would like to remind the taxi drivers throughout the city to post the uniform “No Smoking” sign on the prominent position of the taxi (the dial plate in front of assistant driver seat), in accordance with the regulations of Notice of No Smoking within the Taxies. Tianjin Municipal Passenger Management Office worked with Tianjin Disease Prevention and Control Center to print uniform “No Smoking” signs for all the taxies in Tianjin. These signs have been issued free to all the taxies through the taxi enterprises. Those drivers who have not received the “No Smoking” sign should promptly go to their companies to claim one and post it on the location as specified.
