2010 Summer Davos Forum (Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2010) will be held in Tianjin Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center in September of this year. To reflect green, ecology, environmental protection, economical purposes for holding the meeting and the theme of the forum of “promoting the sustainable growth”, Tianjin Municipal Government put forward and promoted the implementation of 20 green meeting-holding schemes for this Annual Meeting, which mainly involves seven aspects including green meeting venue, green meeting affairs, green transportation, green theme activities, green food & beverage, green accommodation, and green souvenir, thus achieving “low carbon” and “energy conservation” to every minor detail. With the holding of the Forum, various measures are gradually showing results.

Green meeting venue: through the integrity low-carbon design made to the buildings and hardware facilities of Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center, the intensive use of energy and resources by internal and external facilities in the buildings of the entire venue has been achieved, including environmental protection water consumption, intensive power supply, energy-saving and heating supply, green furniture and garbage classification and recovery.

Green meeting affairs: the venue of Davos Forum highlighted “green”, “economical” and “environmental protection” office concept, advocated paperless office, used network tools to assist in setting the data claim area to reduce the paper printing and distribution, and set up green space station to recycle the unused office accommodations and other paper products.

Green transportation: 50 “Zonda” pure electric-power buses have been purchased as new green energy buses to serve for Davos Forum, the vehicles are affixed with green logo after being tested to be qualified via tail gas detection; safe, convenient and reasonable driving routes have been surveyed and developed, traffic diversion and grooming have been arranged, the training for the drivers’ driving habits has been conducted to meet environmental protection requirements; and it is advocated that the public should adopt public transport means, cycling, walking and other green trip modes during the meeting.

Green theme activities: the green issues will focus on low-carbon industries and the current status and future development of low-carbon enterprises, set up representative message board, guide and promote the development of low-carbon economy; the green achievements obtained in the aspects of energy-saving and emission reduction and recycling economy of Tianjin city in recent years will be shown on the official website; green visits will inspect the outlook in Tianjin with historical and cultural characteristics and strategic emerging industries and the construction of ecological environment and other key projects, so as to make “green” concept better known among common people.

Green food & beverage: produce healthy green meeting meals by use of green food materials and by virtue of green cooking processes, and publish reasonable matching diet of raw materials on the official website; provide low-carbon green food and supplies during the meeting; the kitchen remaining garbage should be done hazard-free treatment by the chartered companies.

Green accommodation: each guest room shall set up green accommodation advocacy manual during the forum, advocate water-saving and energy conservation, and set up consultation suggestion board; the cotton supplies used in each guest room shall be replaced according to the choice of representatives participating in the meeting every day.

Green souvenir: the green environmental protection materials and processes are used to make artistic paper cutting with historical heritage and ethnic cultural characteristics of Tianjin to present to the representatives participating in the meeting as souvenir.
