“Jin Men” and “Jin Ta” are both part of Tianjin’s 20 key projects designed to rev up its service industry. The two projects are part of the Tianjin Global Financial Center, which is an important component of the Heping Plaza Commercial District, one of the six major projects in the Haihe River comprehensive development plan.

“Jin Men” project, with construction area of 240,000 square meters, consists of St. Regis Hotel, Global Financial Center Apartment Building and other commercial and garden projects. Jin Men, or Tianjin gate, got its name because of a Chinese character “Men” shaped super five-star St. Regis hotel, which is 71-meter tall.

Jin Ta project, which will be composed of Global Financial Center and serviced apartment buildings, has a total of 340,000 square meters of construction area. Global Financial Center, an office building with designed height of 336.9 meters, will have 75 stories and 4 underground floors. Its exterior design draws some inspirations from Chinese traditional paper-folding art. The Serviced apartment building, close to the Global Financial Center, is a 105-meter-high curve-shaped building, which is supposed to provide top privacy to the global CEOs living in the apartment. The building is set to become a commercial serviced apartment landmark in Tianjin.

It is expected that more than 700 multinational firms and well-known companies, ranging from banks, insurers, accounting firms to law firms and consultancy, will move into Tianjin Global Financial Center upon its completion.

Tianjin Municipal Government is planning to build an open, intelligent and eco-friendly financial city in 10 years in Jiefangbei Road and Dagubei Road area, trying to reestablish itself as a Wall Street in North China. Jin Wan Plaza is located in the designated financial city area and is also one of municipal government’s 20 key projects designed to spur the service industry. Since breaking ground in 2008, the construction of the Jin Wan Plaza went smoothly in accordance with its plan, with its first phase completed and open to business in September, 2009. Its second phase is scheduled to be operational in 2012.

The first phase of Jin Wan Plaza occupies 46,000 square meters, with ground construction area of 95,000 square meters and underground construction area of 75,000 square meters. The first phase, composed of five commercial buildings and underground commercial streets, has an open square and river front space. The first phase of the Jin Wan Plaza, which will soon be open to business, is a combination of theater, cinema, high-end eateries and fashionable shopping malls, according to project managers. The developer is planning to turn the plaza into an internationalized commercial hub, an elegant and trendy place of high cultural taste.

The first construction phase of Jin Wan Plaza is composed of five functional spaces. The premium leisure space is a place where luxury goods showrooms and business eateries will dominate. The metropolitan space will mainly accommodate high-end restaurants and business clubs. The video and audio space will house Jin Wan Times Theater, where operas and dancing will be performed. The trendy entertainment space will be a place housing high-end bars, coffee shops, premium Western restaurants and KTV courts. The happy time space will be consisting of cinema, shopping malls, eateries and entertainment facilities. So far China Film Group Corporation, Power House Fitness Center and other famous tenants have already signed contracts with Jin Wan, with contracted area already exceeding 50 percent of the total area in the first phase.

A five-star cinema complex, developed by China Film Group Corporation, is scheduled to open to business in September. The complex, which is to become the most luxury modern movie theater in Tianjin, houses a huge screen IMAX theater, VIP rooms and digital 3D film facilities. The screen of the IMAX has a height of 16 meters and width of 22 meters, 10 times the size of traditional 35mm film screen.
