The newly opened Yangliuqing Horticulture Sci-tech Expo Park is located in the eco-tourism area in the Yangliuqing Town, Xiqing District, Tianjin. The park, which is close to Yangliuqing golf course and Yangliuqing country yard, is a demonstration project showcasing how metropolitan agriculture and modern farming can be developed and achieved in the circum-Bohai Bay economic zone. The park, one of the Tianjin’s major agriculture projects, is also a national-level horticulture science and technology demonstration zone, encompassing four major functions: science and technology exhibition, sightseeing and recreation, production demonstration and technique promotion. The expo park, with a total investment of 350 million yuan, covers an area of 540 mu, which includes vegetable planting showroom, large-scale vegetable production showroom, flower growing exhibition hall, tropical and subtropical fruits hall, modern seedling hall, horticulture science showroom, greenery vegetables production area, fruits growing area, processing and packaging facility, eco-friendly restaurant and general lobby.
The park, known for its large-scale, modern, hi-tech and high efficient features, demonstrates how hi-tech bio-engineering, automatic computer-operated control technology and soil-free planting techniques are used in modern agriculture. The park, which combines the farming, science promotion and tourism functions, aims to achieve social, business and environment and eco gains.
The first phase of the sci-tech park, which houses vegetable planting showroom, large-scale vegetable planting hall and flower planting showroom and tropical and subtropical fruits exhibition hall, is now open to visitors.
Vegetable planting showroom mainly displays the new plant species, new technology and equipment used in the modern agriculture. It also displays the different planting modes used in the vegetable planting and the usage of new machinery equipment and new techniques. Visitors can not only enjoy the sightseeing and relaxation but also gain new knowledge of the agriculture and have a first hand look at the latest planting techniques.
The vegetable planting exhibition hall showcases the new techniques used in the large-scale vegetable production. It has a large-sized planting area, presenting visitors with an impressive visual feast. The hall demonstrates how tomato, cucumber, water melon, color pepper and other vegetables are grown using various high-yield and soil-free planting modes such as potted cultivation. It also displays the world-leading green house facilities. The hall presents the modern vegetable growing models to visitors, who can view them closely and also pick the fresh vegetables and fruits and taste them.
Flower planting showroom presents the methods used in cultivating bonsai or potted plants. The showroom is divided into eight sections: lover garden, scent flowers and plants, water flowers, healthy flowers, tropical plants, desert botanical plantation, rare flower plants, and standing flower sections. The eight sections, each with different color, create a romantic and wonderful recreation destination for sightseeing and relaxation.
Tropical and sub-tropical fruits exhibition hall displays how fruits naturally grown in the South can be cultivated in the North and how fine fruits, either local or abroad can be protected. The hall, which also displays other fruits growing techniques, is a place where visitors can enjoy seeing fruits naturally grown in the south and the tropical plants. The hall, characterized by its exhibition of tropical and subtropical fruits growing techniques, presents an pleasant view of a bumper harvest.
