It links more than 400 ports of over 180 countries and regions. In 2008, Tianjin Port realized a goods throughput of 356 million tons and a container throughput of over 8.5 million TEUs, both of the best level in history. Regarding air transportation, the Tianjin Binhai International Airport, one of the modern large-scale international airports in China, has nearly hundreds of international and domestic airlines. Its new terminal has been in use in April 2008, bringing new opportunity for its develop-ment. As for railway transportation, Tianjin is a hub of the railway system connecting many railways, such as Jingshan, Jingha, Jinghu and Jingjiu, etc.. The project of Tinjin Train Station Transportation Hub is the largest comprehensive construction of its kind in terms of scale in China till now. Meanwhile, the Jingjin Intercity Railway, with the promptest operation speed around the world was also in its formal operation, by which you can realize a travel between the two cities of Beijing and Tianjin within half hour. For highway, Tianjin has an expressway net-work radiating the north, southeast, east and northwest of China. The Jing-Jin Expressway, largest in scale and highest in class of this kind in Tianjin till now, was opened formally on 16 July 2008, with eight lanes in two directions. In the city proper, a network of urban transportation has been established, with 3 ring roads and 14 radiating lines as its skeleton. In addition to the current Subway Line 1 and Jin-Bin Light Rail, Sub-way Line 2, 3 and 9 will be completed and the construction of Subway Line 5 and 6 will be started. Till then, an urban public transport system will provide convenient transportation to the citizens.
