After 5 Tianjin citizen representatives showed up at 2010 Tianjin Summer Davos, in this September, another 8 citizens will approach this grand meeting at 2012 Tianjin Summer Davos. On July 30, the selection of “Approaching Davos” citizen representatives is fully launched, which is co-sponsored by 2012 Tianjin Summer Davos Preparatory Office, Tianjin People’s Radio and Tianjin TV. Ronglin He, the Vice Chairman of Tianjin CPPCC attended the work meeting of the selection and addressed.

This selection will experience four stages, application, interview, rematch and final, and last for over a month.

The applicants have to satisfy the following: they are permanent residents in Tianjin (outsiders and foreigners who have worked in Tianjin for years are included); they have made certain achievements in their respective fields; they are good at communicating and English language. There are two ways to apply, individual’s sign up or recommendation by organizations. For the former, individuals can dial 23345878, the application hotline opened by Tianjin People’s Radio or log on www.tj-summerdavos.cn, the official website of 2012 Summer Davos’ host city. The closing time for application is August 10.

The working committee of the selection will pick out 100 applicants who are preferably eligible for the interview and then determine 40 of them as candidates for the tryout. The tryout will go through two stages, namely 16 out of 40 and 8 out of 16. Such selection forms as key-note speech, topic debate and talent show will be adopted, and finally 8 winners will come out as the citizen representatives to attend 2012 Tianjin Summer Davos.

The 8 citizens will participate in the opening and closing ceremonies of 2012 Tianjin Summer Davos, some door-closing meetings, the grand cultural dinner party held by the municipal government, visit Tianjin Summer Davos Village, sit in on Young Scientists, the 2nd Sister Cities’ Round-Table Conference and other activities, and meet high-level officials of WEF. Moreover, 2012 Tianjin Summer Davos Preparation and Coordination Committee will award certificates of honor to the representatives. Additionally, a sub-forum will be held for the citizen representatives during the period of Summer Davos. The representatives will make their speeches, and WEF representatives will be invited to audit the sub-forum.
