On the evening of September 2, at the final of the “citizen representative” selection activity for the 2012 Tianjin Summer Davos Forum at the television hall of Tianjin TV Station, Gao Jiayong, Gai Wen, Sun Yun, Wang Jingya, Wang Juan, Li Lingyi, Wang Da and Su Dongxu won the selection with their outstanding performance. Cheng Qisheng, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Municipal Committee and Minister of the Propaganda Department of CPC Municipal Committee, Ren Xuefeng, Vice Mayor of Tianjin, He Ronglin, Vice Chairman of the Municipal Political Consultative Conference, and Li Jiajun, President of Tianjin University, presented certificates of honor to the “Citizen Representatives”.

Since commencement on July 30, the “citizen representative” selection activity for the 2012 Tianjin Summer Davos Forum has triggered a “Davos Forum Craze” among the citizens. The number of entries to the activity exceeds 800 people, including students, teachers, experts, officials, employees from foreign-funded enterprises and senior business executives etc, 40% of whom are master’s degree or doctorate holders and many have experience in studying or working abroad.

It is said that these eight “citizen representatives” will participate in the opening and closing ceremonies and some closed meetings of the 2012 Tianjin Summer Davos Forum, visit Tianjin Summer Davos Village, attend the Young Scientists Round Table Conference and the 2nd Round Table Conference of Sister Cities etc, and receive an interview by senior officers of the World Economic Forum. Besides, during the Davos Forum a sub-forum of “citizen representatives” will be held and they will make a keynote speech.
