Zhang Guoqing, mayor of Tianjin, on the afternoon of June 29, met with Borge Brende, president of the World Economic Forum (WEF), at the seat of local government. Zhang said that the theme of the Summer Davos Forum 2018, “Shaping Innovative Societies in the Fourth Industrial Revolution”, coincided with current development demand. Tianjin successively hosted the second World Intelligence Congress last month, with good response and fruitful results. “At present, Tianjin is energetically promoting the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, speeding up its pace in building ‘One Base and Three Areas’, vigorously developing strategic emerging industries such as artificial intelligence, bio-pharmaceuticals, new energy and new materials etc., strengthening ecological protection, and striving for creating a good and livable environment for business. Tianjin is willing to join hands with the WEF to host the Summer Davos at a higher level and to realize win-win development,” he said. Borge Brende expressed that, the WEF and Tianjin enjoyed good cooperative foundation, had good prospects for Tianjin’s potential and more achievements would be made with joint efforts.
