The smart terminal of Tianjin Port
Tianjin port is located at the west coast of Bohai Bay. It is mainly composed of six port areas: North Port, East Port, South Port, Dagukou, Gaoshaling and Dagang. It is the maritime gateway of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. It is the nearest port to Xiong’an New Area, radiates the hinterland of the Three-North inland areas, and connects Northeast Asia and Central and Western Asia.
Tianjin port is the highest grade artificial deep-water port in the world, with the berthing grade of 300000 tons, a water depth of - 22 meters in the main channel, 213 various types of berths, and maintains shipping trade with more than 500 ports in more than 180 countries and regions in the world.
The first international container liner route and the first container terminal since the founding of the P.R.C were successively opened and put into operation in Tianjin Port. With 28 large deep-water container berths, the port can satisfy the operational requirements of the largest container vessel in the world. There are 140 container liner services with more than 500 voyages per month, covering almost all major ports in the world.
On December 18, 2021, the annual container throughput of Tianjin Port exceeded 20 million TEUs for the first time, marking a new leap in the container industry of Tianjin port, further improving the status of Tianjin Port as a global international hub port, making significant progress in the construction of Tianjin port as the north international shipping hub, and continuously enhancing its ability to serve national strategy and regional economic development.
Tianjin Port Second Container Terminal Co., Ltd. is the first intelligent container terminal in Tianjin, China and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tianjin Port (Group) Co., Ltd. It has three 200,000-ton container berths and a total quay length of 1,100 meters, designed to handle 2.5 million TEUs annually. The company began operating on October 17, 2021; and on October 14, 2022, it broke the world record for the shortest time for an automated container terminal to handle 1 million TEUs, achieving this milestone in only 33 months since the start of construction. Known as the “Green Melody Port” and the “Colorful Smart Port”, it is the world’s first “colorful” port, using an innovative automated layout of a single trolley shore crane, ground unlocking station, and horizontal stacking yard, to improve resource utilization and provide a replicable “Tianjin Solution” for upgrading and transforming traditional ports into automated ones.
The terminal has realized full IoT, digitalization, and intelligence application landing in production, operation, safety control, energy conservation and environmental protection, and intelligent buildings, by using technologies such as digital twins, video AI, and intelligent perception. It has achieved a leap from “Internet of Everything” to “Intelligent Internet of Everything”. With a new energy solution that integrates source-grid-load, wind, and solar energy storage, the terminal has built a smart green energy system, using 100% clean energy since the start of operations and achieving 100% self-sufficiency in energy consumption. It is the world’s first “smart zero-carbon” container terminal, boasting the highest level of intelligence, the shortest construction period, the best operating efficiency, the lowest comprehensive investment, the widest application range, and the best green development.
Moreover, the “5G+Smart Port” project created by the company won the Global Mobile Award for Best Mobile Innovation for the Connected Economy at the 2022 World Mobile Congress, making it the world’s first smart port project to receive this award.
Airbus (Tianjin) Final Assembly Company Limited
Airbus Tianjin assembles and delivers the A320 family air crafts. The main assembly activities at each station are: jointing the forward and rear fuselages; jointing the wings and assembled fuselage; installation of pylons, main/nose landing gears, HTP/VTP; interior furnishing of cabin such as lining, carpet, different classes of seats, overhead compartment, cabin lighting, in-flight entertainment systems, and leak test of fuel tank, landing gears operation test, and cabin audio systems.
Till the end of May 2023, totally 658 A320 series air crafts were delivered to customers.
In 2017, A330 Completion and Delivery Center in Tianjin (A330 C&DC) was constructed near the site of the Airbus A320 Family Final Assembly Line in Tianjin. And in 2019, the A330 CDC capability was extended to A350 CDC based on the marketing demands, the first A350 was delivered in July 2021. Till the end of May 2023, 16 A330 and 16 A350 air crafts were delivered to the customers.
In September 2022, the company delivered its 600th A320 Family aircraft to the customer, which marked another incredible milestone.
On 9th November 2022, Airbus Tianjin celebrated its another new milestone, the inauguration of the A321 Upgrade Project, which means Airbus Tianjin is capable of producing all members of the A320 family. This is a remarkable example of how Airbus Tianjin is able to adapt and look for new opportunities during the COVID-19 crisis.
Tianjin Seagull Watch Group
The Seagull Watch Museum, opened in 2010, is located within the Seagull Watch Industry Group factory area. Covering an area of over 1000 square meters, it is the largest watch museum among professional watch manufacturers in China. The museum showcases the development history and base and birthplace of the first domestically produced watch in New China. In addition, by studying the development overview of ancient Chinese timing instruments, visitors can gain insights into the development process of Seagull watches and explore the path of Chinese timing. Furthermore, visitors can appreciate the beauty of Seagull watchmaking.
